The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) have announced a new partnership to increase corporate transparency in the Indo-Pacific region. DFAT has provided AU$1 million in funding for the partnership, which will promote sustainable trade and investment in Australia and in the region, including Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Papua New Guinea. The partnership will explore how sustainability reporting can be used to “address challenges that prevent businesses in the region from fully participating in the global economy,” and GRI’s reporting standards will be the foundation of all projects started during this period, GRI said.
